Facilities

Media Projects Gallery, a 286-sq ft exhibition space, showcases work by students in the Photography/Digital Media area and operates by consent of the faculty. The well-equipped labs and classrooms for the Photography/Digital Media area are organized in two separate suites on the second floor, one for traditional, chemical photography and photography shooting, and the other for digital photography, video, and multimedia.

Chemical labs include two primary B&W darkrooms and individual graduate lab spaces, all outfitted with 4 x 5 enlargers, one with an 8 x 10. The color darkroom is equipped with 4 x 5 color enlargers, one 8 x 10, and a 20-inch Kreonite color processor. Students working as lab monitors provide evening and weekend lab access for over 50 hours a week to those enrolled in lower level courses. In addition, BFA Block and MFA students have 24-7 access to all darkrooms and studios. More than 45 PowerMac G5 computers are installed throughout the media labs and used for digital photography, video editing, and multimedia production. A dedicated printing room contains three Epson mural printers (9600, 7800, 7600), and there is a separate Epson 9600 printer as well as two computer workstations in the graduate studio suite. Both BFA Block and MFA students have 24-7 access to the Imaging, Printing, and Video labs.
